About LA-MAF: Art Squared

With Hipstamatic came the resurgence in popularity of the square-format image, originally made popular by cameras like the old medium format 6x6 Hasselblads, Rolleis and many others. Today, square images are a staple of the mobile art movement. And so we've dedicated this group to the square. Its simplicity. Its elegance. And - its ability to use the full projection of a camera lens, which is inherently circular: a notion argued well by the makers of Hasselblad in "The Medium Format Advantage"

So no, your image doesn't have to have any squares in it...
It just has to BE square.

We will be taken submissions through July 15, but we are beginning the selection process now, so the sooner you get your work in the better.
