Bleach Bypass is the first iphoneography app (of hopefully many) created by the new app company fotosyn. Bleach Bypass is simple, easy to use, and does a great job processing images at the highest level of quality.
First, import an image from your camera roll, or take a photo by activating the iPhone camera from within the app. Once your image is loaded in the app, you can select from a range of 7 effects, and add borders (lght, dart, & retro) and vignettes (toggle on/off). Images are saved at full resolution, and all EXIF and geotagging data is saved with your post-processed image.
Standard Effects:
Cinematic - slight desaturation with boosted contrast.
Extreme - a true bleach bypass look with blown out whites, super high contrast and a more desaturated image.
Monohint - an almost completely desaturated image. "Works well with strong reds in the image," says the fotosyn website.
Tint Effects:
Blush - warms up the image a bit
Breeze - cools the image a bit, with blown out, glowing whites.
Verve - gives a green hue over the entire image.
Nostalgia - gives the image a yellowish hue with vignette. a real "old school" feel.
I'm a big fan of the Nostalgia effect. It's kind of like sepia tone on steroids! I also like Breeze and Extreme, but you don't have to take my word for it. For only 99¢, this app is one of the best inexpensive and easy to use post-processing apps currently available.
I look forward to more effects, borders, and vignettes in future updates of the app, as well as additional sharing options. It will be great to have more control over the amount of effect applied to the image, too. Hopefully these features will be included in future updates.
Whether you're jazzing up your candid snapshots, or crafting artwork for gallery exhibitions and competitions, this app is for you. It is a great app to have on standby in your iPhone camera bag, and I recommend it without reservation.
