The Iris Photo Suite is a powerful and well made app for iPhoneogrphers and iPhoneArtists interested in having more than pre-made or very basic editing abilities. The app is straightforward, and works well — but it is not for everyone. We recommend this app for people who already have a decent knowledge of image editing in a program like Photoshop.
That being said, for all of you who know the basics, you are going to love this. One of the best features in this app is the ability to create and use layers much like you do in Photoshop. Many iPhoneographers require layers for more compex editing capabilities, and Iris definitely delivers.
in this app are excellent. Although it does seem to be missing a "curves" function, the layers will allow you to composite multiple images, use 14 different blending modes such as Multiply, Overlay and Screen, (just like Photoshop) adjust opacity, and apply effects.
First you set your base layer. Then you import an image you want to composite and Iris will ask which image to use as the final size. You can then adjust transparency and use the blending modes which allow for a much richer compositing effect than many other photo apps out there right now. The program also allows for multiple "undos" which is a great asset. The bottom line is, Iris offers options for compositing, and it does it extremely well.
In addition to the editing and compositing functions, you can up-res or down-res your images, providing the option to save your images at an even higher resolution than your native iPhone camera. And you can make use of 27 quick and easy pre-set filters that do a great job of saving time and applying quick effects.
Iris is compatible with iPhone OS 3.0 or later as well as the iPod Touch and iPad. So if you have a working knowledge of photo-editing in Photoshop and are looking for an app that will allow many similar benefits, then we definitely recommend this app.
